We are delighted to say that Irish Botanical Artist and ISBA Member Yanny Pettershad her verre églomisé painting ‘Field of Vision, Pyramidal Orchid’ recently acquired by the OPW for the Irish State Collection.
This work is part of Yanny’s recent solo exhibition ‘Field of Vision’ botanical treasures in focus at the Olivier Cornet Gallery in October 2021.
This painting was inspired by the wildflower meadows at Birr Castle Demesne for the exhibition at Birr which took place in September 2020, ‘Birr Castle Demesne through the Artist’s Eye’.
‘As Birr features the amazing Leviathan telescope I wanted to reflect the idea of a lens in my work. The Field of Vision is that which we see through a lens, be that a glass lens or our eyes.‘
Yanny uses a brilliant process to create her Artwork.
‘The plants in this painting have been applied by Nature printing onto the back of convex glass, where I apply enamel to the plants and make an imprint onto the glass.
They are later enhanced with colour. The orchids were first etched into the glass and then water based pigment applied before applying a glaze to the back. Everything is done in reverse of course’
