TECHNIQUES
I specialise in the watercolour painting of plants and gardens.
APPROACH AND INSPIRATION
My approach is essentially narrative, to tell something of the plant’s life cycle. In this respect it is close to that of a portrait painter. I portray the character of each plant while maintaining botanical accuracy. The creative expression of each plant’s personality and the sensitive use of colour and accuracy of draughtsmanship are key to my paintings. The decorative composition of my work has its foundation in my early training as a textile designer.
BIOGRAPHY, EXHIBITIONS AND AWARDS
My paintings and textile works are collected and commissioned by corporate and domestic clients in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy and the USA.
Every summer I offer Tuition Painting Days as well as one-to-one tutorials in my Dublin studio.
