Our new project is underway and all members have been informed through our AGM and in correspondence since. We held one workshop for members in the Spring, given by ISBA member Noeleen Frain (many thanks for Noeleen for a great day!) and we’re holding another now in early Summer: Claire Ward comes to us from Wales and will conduct a workshop in the National Botanic Gardens Curvilinear Room on Thursday 16 May. The cost is €35 and places are limited to 12. There are still some places available, check the event listing for more details, including how to apply.
We’re delighted to offer another sketchbook workshop to members as the Sceitse project gets underway. Claire Ward comes to us from Wales and will conduct a workshop in the National Botanic Gardens Curvilinear Room. The cost is €35 and places are limited to 12. If you’ve like to take part, contact our Treasurer Alison Walker at email@example.com.
Claire is a botanical and nature artist based in West Wales. After studying botany, horticulture and field ecology, and exploring watercolour, gouache and oil painting, Claire now combines both passions through her botanical and nature art and illustration. She concentrates on the wild flora and fauna of Britain and Ireland and has a particular affinity for orchids, lichen and fungi. As well as her art, Claire also creates handmade artist books and journals. A full member of the SBA (in the UK), Claire received a highly commended award for her Welsh Oak Woods painting in 2014 at the SBA annual exhibition in Westminster. She also has a painting in the Hunt Institute’s permanent collection in Pittsburgh, USA. Claire took part in the ISBA inaugural project, Aibítir, contributing a painting of one of our native orchids.
