APPROACH AND INSPIRATION
I came to botanical painting through a love of horticulture and a latent but persistent interest in the creative arts.  As a gardener, I have been fascinated by the diversity, functions and beauty of wild and cultivated plants.  I am driven by the desire to produce informative and exciting portraits of all kinds of flora and enjoy greatly the challenge of constantly improving my skills in this precise and beautiful art form.

BIOGRAPHY
I was very interested in art at school and completed a Portfolio Course in 1990. I also studied Drama for many years and English & History at UCD. After working in the Pensions and PR industries, a course in Botanical Illustration at IADT in 2013/14 offered me a re-introduction, and I completed a course at the Burren College of Art in 2014. I achieved a Diploma with Distinction on the Society of Botanical Artists (London) Distance Learning Diploma Course in 2017.
I continue to paint and to explore new mediums and art forms, including portraiture, ceramics and illumination, but my primary passion is for painting plants.
