TECHNIQUES

I mainly use watercolors. Techniques include layering, glazing, and dry brushing. I start by creating various thumbnail sketches. I then create a detailed pencil sketch of the composition/thumbnail sketch that I prefer most. This helps me to get very familiar with the subject and gives the preview of the final work. I then proceed with the actual work using various watercolor techniques.

APPROACH AND INSPIRATION

My inspiration comes from the nature, mainly plants. The concepts such as a plant’s life cycle, plant evolution, ecology and behavior (just to mention a few) often draws me in to the plant world. Not to mention the colors, shapes and sizes which adds to the admiration! The general interest and appreciation towards the plant kingdom along with the joy of working with watercolors, help me shape my art.

BIOGRAPHY

Graduated in Computer Science Technology and worked as a Software Engineer in India before moving to Limerick, Ireland in 2008.  Since then I have been more interested and involved in art especially watercolor botanicals. I got an opportunity to have my first solo exhibition in 2012 at the University of Limerick. Since then, I have been a regular participant in numerous annual exhibitions held in the country and offered demonstrations for Limerick Art Society. Contributed to Heritage Irish Plants – Plandaí Oidhreachta book through an illustration.
